Who is this course for
🌊
Technical Explorers
Experienced divers looking to push beyond recreational limits and master the complexities of overhead environments.
ðŸ§
Precision Seekers
Divers who value technical precision, detailed planning, and the highest standards of safety and equipment management.
🔦
Cave Enthusiasts
Aspiring cave divers ready to learn the specific buoyancy, propulsion, and gas management skills required for cave systems.
Course Structure & Duration
A comprehensive roadmap for your cave diving journey, designed to build mastery through progressive training modules.
01
Phase I: Theory & Dry Drills. Intensive classroom sessions covering cave geology, gas management, and complex navigation. Dry drills focus on specialized reel technique and line protocols before entering the water.
02
Phase II: Land to Water Transition. 4 days of confined water and open water training focusing on buoyancy mastery, propulsion techniques (modified flutter and frog kicks), and gas-sharing contingencies.
03
Phase III: Full Cave Penetration. 8-10 days of active overhead environment exploration. Students learn advanced reel placement, complex navigation (including jumps, gaps, and circuits), and lost diver procedures.
04
Duration & Certification. Total duration typically spans 14-18 days. Final certification requires successful completion of all skill modules and a final evaluation dive in a challenging cave environment.
2:1
Student - Instructor Ratio
We maintain a strict 2:1 student-to-instructor ratio for all cave diving modules. This ensures absolute safety protocols are met and allows for high-fidelity technical feedback in the overhead environment.
Training Equipment & Materials
Subject Areas & Skills
Navigation & Mapping
Learn precision underwater surveying, compass work, and creating detailed maps of complex cave systems to ensure safe return and documentation.
Line Protocols
Master the use of reels, spools, and line markers. Proficiency in running primary and secondary guide lines is the lifeline of every cave diver.
Gas Management
Advanced training in calculating turn pressures, reserves, and contingency gas protocols using the Rule of Thirds or more conservative strategies.
Propulsion & Trim
Perfecting the frog kick, helicopter turn, and back kick to navigate without disturbing silt, while maintaining a horizontally streamlined profile.
Emergency Procedures
Extensive drill practice including zero-visibility exits, lost diver scenarios, out-of-gas situations, and equipment failure management.
Cave Awareness
Developing a high level of situational awareness, including monitoring flow, geology, and team status throughout the dive duration.
Intro
The Cave Diving course is the pinnacle of technical training, designed for experienced divers who wish to penetrate overhead environments safely. This program transforms your diving capabilities through rigorous discipline.
You will learn to navigate complex systems while managing gas supplies and potential emergencies with tactical precision. Our training follows the highest international standards of safety and exploration.
Who is this course for
This course is designed for advanced technical divers who possess exceptional buoyancy control and situational awareness. Applicants must have a minimum of 100 logged dives and specific technical certifications.
It is ideal for those seeking to explore flooded cave systems for scientific research, photography, or technical challenge. Mental fortitude and a team-oriented mindset are required for all candidates.
Course Structure & Duration
The course is typically conducted over 8 to 10 days of intensive training. It includes classroom theory, land drills for line work, and at least 15 technical cave dives in various environments.
Final evaluation involves complex navigation scenarios and emergency response simulations. Successful graduates receive an internationally recognized full cave diver certification.
Student - Instructor Ratio
To ensure maximum safety and personalized instruction, Drift Dive School maintains a strict 2:1 student-to-instructor ratio. This ensures every student receives dedicated oversight during penetration dives.
Small groups allow for deeper pedagogical focus on technical drills and individual buoyancy refinement. We prioritize quality of training over volume of students to maintain elite exploration standards.
Training Equipment & Materials
Students are required to use fully redundant technical diving systems, including double cylinders or specialized sidemount configurations. Primary and backup lighting systems must meet specific lumen requirements.
Training materials include high-quality course manuals, dive planning software, and specialized reels and line markers. Drift Dive School provides access to elite rental gear if needed.
Subject Areas & Skills
Core subjects include hydrodynamic principles, gas management, and psychological aspects of cave diving. Skills focus on line deployment, team communication, and zero-visibility navigation techniques.
You will master advanced propulsion techniques and emergency protocols, such as out-of-gas management and lost-line procedures. Decompression theory applied to overhead environments is also heavily covered.
Generic Content
Our facility offers state-of-the-art gas blending and storage solutions for all technical diving needs. Students have access to comfortable briefing areas and on-site equipment maintenance workshops.
Join a community of elite explorers. We provide ongoing support and organized exploration trips for our certified graduates to help you continue your journey in the world of technical diving.
